Conquering Psoriasis: An Illustrated Guide to the Understanding and Control of Psoriasis
Published in Paperback by BC Decker Inc (May, 2002)
Average review score:

An excellent handbook for people with psoriasis ...This is a small handbook for psoriasis patients, using
language that any high school graduate can understand.
Numerous illustrations and case summaries help explain what
psoriasis is, how it is triggered, and how it can be treated.
Each chapter concludes with a list of "Facts to Remember"
that highlights do1s and dont1s for the patient. Especially
notable is the concluding chapter, "It's Up To You," which
encourages the reader to take a pro-active role in
controlling the disease. Also notable is the chapter on
"Total Care," which emphasizes the importance of each
patient1s general health and lifestyle as they relate to his
or her psoriasis.
As one who has struggled with psoriasis for 35 years, I am
especially glad to have so much valuable information
summarized in one small book. Even more important, I
believe, is the overall message: that we patients are capable
of understanding the basics of psoriasis, and with optimism
and persistance, can do a great deal to help ourselves.
Dermatologists should present this book to every psoriasis
patient over 12 years of age, especially in this era of
managed care. Three minutes with the doctor and another
prescription simply cannot provide the information and
encouragement that are so important to psoriasis patients.

Western "fiction" doesn't get any better - Rhodes was THEREA great tale - as usual Rhodes combines the lives, circumstances, and events of people and places HE actually knew and ... you can taste the dust, and smell the sweat of the horse swaying beneath you. Bring a canteen, a good knife, and a pile of hard-tack

Cosmo Gets an Ear
Published in Hardcover by Alex Graham Bell Assn for Deaf (June, 1995)
Average review score:

Young Hearing Aid Users Relate to CosmoThis is a sweet story about a little boy getting a hearing aid and all of the issues surrounding that for most children. Cosmo Gets an Ear explains on a child's level what happens when Cosmo must get a hearing aid. How Cosmo's hearing loss was first detected as well as visits to the audiologist are described in a very comical manner. The story is written in a way that the reader or listener can interact by answering multiple-choice questions along the way. Cosmo goes from having no idea what a hearing aid is to talking with his friend about it and finally to realizing the benefit he receives when wearing his hearing aid. Hearing aid care is also shown in the story. Cosmo speaks to his class about his hearing aid and explains his hearing is helping him hear like glasses help people see - ear glasses.

Best Book I Ever Read!Edelbach and Winston should look to this true professional to create the SET book. He writes with the quality of a true professional, which is why he remains a professor at the wonderful institution of the College Of New Jersey. His writings are genuine and compelling. I never would have thought that cultural anthropology would be such an exciting subject until I picked up this book!

Darkness Visible: Memoir of a World War II Combat Photographer
Published in Paperback by McFarland & Company (26 August, 2002)
Average review score:

Terrific World War II research sourceCharles Sumners (with the help of Ann Sumners) wrote with his memory book "Darkness Visible" a book which was overdue for a long time: Who didn't wonder under which dangers and conditions the often single pictures have arisen when looking at the photos in the many publications to the World War II? For me, in the meantime, it has become an important means of work at my researches as a German historian, publicists and documentary movie director, who actively has a good look at this time! Charles Sumners manages important attempts to think with his memories and he activates to further intensive researches! This applies to me particularly with reference to the photo which can be found on the title page of the book - the photo which made Charles on April 4th, 1945 in the village of Oberdorla near the city of Mühlhausen, Germany! With this photo Charles Sumners has been placed in the elite of the combat photographers in the WWII! "Darkenss Visible" is also a very intimate and also gripping report of the insides of his 166th Photo Signal Company, and of friendships which arose in the face of the daily dangers and endangerings and lasted up to the death of the ones involved.
I have read hundreds of American and German books at my researches about the WWII - "Darkness Visible" is part of my "Top Ten" if I carry out a qualitative evaluation! I wish that this book will find a large and broad readership in the USA and in all the world; and I wish as well that a translated edition is published of "Darkness Visible" in Germany soon, too! What Charles Sumners writes makes thoughtful... The book has seemed very late - but still not too late!

Darshan: the vision of light
Published in Unknown Binding by CSA Press ()

The guru-disciple relationshipIn this book one sentence went straight to my heart "God as the guru, awakens himself as the disciple". With one sentence I managed to understand the philosophy of absolute monism. The book is easy to read but suitable only to sincere truth seekers. Copies of this kind of books are not easy to find; don't buy it unless you are seriously interested in spiritual discovery. Let serious people get this book.
